We did a great Egypt tirp including a stupid Nile cruise. (SKIP!). What we learned (too late) was that the real way to go is by by rail or better private car (NOT too expensive) from venue to venue. The hotels are 10+ better than the boats any day, and I think less expensive to boot. These colonial hotels are FABULOUS and much, much better than the cruises or tours. Big cost saver and you get so much more!!! In Cairo, always stay at Mena House, in the OLD section. Unforgettable! And don't forget Hurghada, the beach resort on the Red Sea. Unbelievable and well worth a few extra days once you are there. report a problem
