Try staying at the President hotel in Cairo. It is off the beaten path,does not have a big impressive lobby. But, it does have an excellent restaurant on the top floor and is located within walking distance of the US embassy. Rooms are not luxurious, but again everything you need or want and the best part is the cost per night. It has been a number of years since we stayed there, so do not want to quote a price, but recommend that anyone that wants to spend a few days in Cairo check to see what they have to offer today report a problem
