Set in a stunning location—frozen (in winter) lake in front, cedar forest behind, and a network of ski trails all around—Island Lake Lodge is an ultra-exclusive enclave, accommodating only 32 guests. The lodge has three buildings, all built from larch and tamarack trunks, that vary in price and amenities: the Bear, with shared bathrooms, is the cheapest option; the Eagle has en suite facilities; and the Cedar, the most expensive choice, features its own outdoor hot tub. A private snowcat whisks skiers up the mountain. The fine restaurant serves a new menu every season and has an extensive wine list.
