Fiji hotels
Though Fiji has luxury resorts to rival any in the world, the Fijian tribal culture and village structure is still refreshingly in tact. Many of the tribes lease land to the resorts and then provide staff to work at them. Since the tribes benefit directly from the presence of tourists, for the most part, they are happy to see them. This fact contributes to the country's enthusiasm for sharing Fijian culture, and has earned it a reputation for being the friendliest spot in the South Pacific.
Fiji is comprised of over 300 volcanic oceanic islands, an estimated 110 of which are inhabited. Tourism is centered around the two largest islands: the capitol island of Viti Levu, where most international flights arrive, and Vanua Levu. But many resorts are located on islands off the coast of these main islands or even farther-flung on private islands among the chain. You should consider this when planning your travel as getting to your hotel will likely involve a bit more than just a taxi ride from the airport.
The majority of visitors to Fiji are Australians, since it's a mere hop and a skip from there (like flying from New York to Miami). Many people traveling from the U.S. to Australia break up the long haul by stopping off in Fiji (and then end up wishing they had made the islands their main destination).
