Train Travel in Italy Can Be Hazardous To Your Walet-Don't let Vanity Get in the Way of Common Sense!
Posted on: October 14, 2008 at 2:08PM
We were with friends in Italy. A family of thieves, including a fake baby, boarded our train and separated me from my husband, stealing my wallet just the way described in travel guides. My wallet was in my purse because I was too vain to wear it around my waist and look heavier. We were up much of the night and discovered the thieves had spent $7,000 in 5 hours. I felt like a fool, but my husband never gave me a moment of grief. The next morning, although exhausted, we took a boat to Portofino as planned. Rounding the cove into Portofino took my breath away. I thought there is no way to be depressed here. I learned that vanity at times can be costly, and that being with people who love and don't judge you is priceless. And so is the beauty of a place like this. report a problem
