I went in January last year and had a great time. No lines at the museums, very few tourists, and I got to see restorers at work on the Giotto frescoes in Santa Croce. It was cloudy and rained a bit, but all I needed was a raincoat and I was fine. Also, watch for the deals on the Via Cavour. I found a little boutique that was selling five pashminas for E30, or about $8 apiece. The shawls were much better quality than the ones sold in America, and I was able to buy souvenirs for all my friends at once. I definitely want to go in the winter again. It's the best time to see Florence as she really is. report a problem
