Ah, the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, FL…From the moment you walk up the steps and through the front doors you feel as if you have been transported to a world where land and sea meld together in a way that appears seamless. Although you cannot ignore the bright, open lobby with its lofty ceiling; spotless marble flooring; elegant water features; and soaring palm trees you almost hypnotically find yourself walking unswervingly from the front entrance through the rear revolving door, pass the infinity pool, down the steps and directly to the beach. Well, there’s not much you can say about the beach except----simply relaxing! Once you awaken from your sea and fresh air trance and make your way to the elevators, you will then find yourself opening the door to a room that is warm and cozy. The bed is ever so comfy and the bathroom, well ladies let’s just say you won’t have to worry about finding another hotel. The flat screen television was an added luxury. With its overall simple elegance, the room was both welcoming and relaxing. While we did not have the opportunity to take advantage of the golf course, we did afford ourselves an amazing treat---a Swedish massage and facial. The spa atmosphere was tranquil, the facility impeccable, and the services were superb. The massage left us feeling stress-free and the facial made our skin feel refreshed and vibrant. Of the restaurants available, we ate at only one, The Links Restaurant. There are several items to choose from with the primary focus being seafood. While it may be just a little bit pricey the portions more than make up the difference. Make sure not to eat much before dining! Overall, the staff, accommodations, and amenities are exceptional. Although the resort itself is classified as upscale, there is a warm and personable feeling expressed by the staff from check-in to check-out that makes you feel special and your stay memorable. It is conveniently located between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. While there are several restaurants on-site, there are also numerous restaurants and shops nearby. Tips: Book your stay during the week as the resort is much busier during the weekend, request a newly refurbished room, and make sure to get a GOOD map of the area.
