The Spice Island is the closest Grenada has to a Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons—a family-run five-star deluxe resort with equal emphasis on style, service, and serenity. After Hurricane Ivan destroyed half the estate in 2004, the Hopkins family rebuilt and expanded the resort. The 64 luxurious suites, housed in cottages along the beach, have king beds with Italian Frette linens, tiled floors, flat-screen TVs, double whirlpool baths, and private pools. The Royal Collection Suites also have garden saunas.

The Grand Anse Beach property, with "a quiet atmosphere and great privacy," "belongs near the top of tropical resorts." "Spice-themed interior colors" are inspired by nutmeg, saffron, cinnamon, coriander, and paprika. Staff are "well trained by the hands-on management." Rooms have Frette linens and Molton Brown bath products; Royal Collection Suites come with a cedar sauna. Order a salt-fish crêpe at breakfast.
