Not really a Ritz

The location is beautiful. But if you are looking for the pampering and quality that is associated with the Ritz name you will not find it here. Chairs and umbrellas are not allowed on the beach. Chairs without umbrellas are on the grass area above the beach. There will be no food or drink service at the beach. No one serving cocktails or bringing towels to your chair. A cooler of cold water is provided. There are no umbrellas at the large pool either. There is little protection from the relentless wind. Do not underestimate this issue. You will be told it keeps things cooler but we were just there in July and would have rather had a little more heat and a little less wind. You can not read a book or newspaper without fighting it. The siting of the property is it's strength and downfall. The club floor staff was very helpful as was the concierge. The club floor is a good value. We enjoyed the food and drink selections. It is strange that the club floor carpets seemed to have had some kind of flood damage and have not been replaced for some time. The carpets are completely dirty looking and this has been mentioned in reviews from at 2 years back. Service in the restaurants in spotty. We had to leave one night. We were seated and waited and waited. We used points and paid for half of our nights. Our room was over $700 a night plus $100.00 club floor charges plus resort fees. We have stayed at much nicer hotels all over the world for the same or less. I can not really recommend this Ritz.
