Nightlife in Hawaii isn't much of a priority outside the major cities. True night owls gravitate toward Honolulu and Waikiki, where they'll find lively bars, clubs, concerts, lounges, and gallery openings. On the other islands, the sidewalks roll up around 9 pm, and most socializing happens during the day at the beach or at a backyard BBQ at a friend's house (so try to make nice with the locals). Your options? Most resorts have bars that pick up on the weekends. You can attend a luau, which is essentially a dinner showfun in a Disneyland kind of way. In Maui, there are a few notable hot spots once a week or once a month in various towns. But your best bet for action after dark is to lie out on the beach under the stars and hope for a meteor shower.
