Park Hyatt Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City

2 Lam Son Square
Ho Chi Minh City

view web site ›'s insider take:

The pale-yellow colonial-style Park Hyatt is a relatively new competitor in the five-star-hotel category (it opened in summer 2005). The 259 rooms and suites have marble-tiled bathrooms and all the mod cons, including flat-screen satellite TVs and broadband Internet access. There's a 60-foot outdoor pool surrounded by a pretty landscaped garden, and the nine Park Deluxe rooms have direct pool deck access and private terraces. The hotel's restaurants include Square One, a stylish Vietnamese and Western restaurant with an outdoor dining area. The hotel is centrally located at Lam Son Square, near the Opera House downtown and within walking distance of the main tourist attractions.

From the readers of Condé Nast Traveler:
Overlooking the opera house, the 2005 hotel "re-creates the atmosphere of a storied colonial property from centuries ago." "Clean, bright, spacious rooms with beautiful wooden shutters" are designed to feel like a French colonial residence, and include four-poster beds (in suites) and black-and-white photos. Opera Restaurant's "lobster ravioli is outstanding." In January 2010, 2 Lam Son Bar, with a stainless steel and glass bar, opened.

From the editors of Condé Nast Traveler:
In contrast to the city's shiny modern vibe, the 259-room Park Hyatt takes its inspiration from Vietnam's colonial past, exuding the elegance of an old-world residence with its louvered windows, ceiling fans, and four-poster beds. Clever touches include closets that separate the bedroom from the bath, allowing access from either side—but keep your possessions out of reach of the rain shower, which sprays beyond its designated range. Staff excel, delivering breakfast on the dot. The hotel's Italian restaurant, Opera, has brought alfresco dining (absent since the war) back to historic Lam Son Square, while a second restaurant, Square One, is fast becoming the city's top choice. A graceful waterfall in the outdoor pool obscures the urban drone. —2006 Hot List

Park Hyatt(?)

All in all a very nice hotel but I think it falls short of a "Park Hyatt" quality. At the same time it is only charging USD200plus per night for a regular... more
