Macau is quickly becoming the Las Vegas of the East and is an amazing city that still shows its Portuguese influence from nearly 400 years of Portuguese colonial rule. What I did not know until I returned to the United States was that major banks in America will NOT exchange Macau Patacas, nor will most Travel Ex's in the American airports. Make sure to exchange your Patacas to Hong Kong Dollars or Uniteed States Dollars prior to returning to the States or you will have expensive (read worthless) souvenirs for which you will find yourself begging friends who are traveling to China in the future to exchange for you. report a problem
