During the non-peak seasons in Southern India, it's relatively simple to get free tours and rickshaw rides by befriending the rickshaw drivers. Many rickshaw drivers get paid by taking tourists to overpriced cashmere and antiques stores, even if the customer doesn't buy anything. Speaking from experience in Kerala, a beautiful province bordering the sea, I made really great friends with local rickshaw drivers. They would take me to great destinations and famous restaurants, and in exchange I would walk into stores for them. Since rickshaw drivers know their way around, this is a great way to befriend a local and experience India! report a problem
