The new "City's" shopping center in Nişantaşı, Istanbul's most stylish retail district, may not be much to get excited about, but this oddly named restaurant on the top floor is a worthy place to take a break from shopping. The offbeat eatery serves up hearty slap-up-style fare in the form of pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, and salads, all executed with an eye to tasty details: There's an abundance of truffles on the menu, including in the delicious cream dip that accompanies the bread. The atmosphere here is vibrant and eccentric: Books are stacked in high columns in one corner near a chandelier, while an old Ottoman cabinet holds the crockery, across from a huge sculpture of a black horse. A mass of fruit, vegetables, and baking products adorns the entryway, and if you can pass the prodigious dessert display without falling in to temptation, give yourself a pat on the back. They don't take reservations, so be prepared for a possible wait.
Open daily noon to 2 am.
