If you are anywhere near Locarno (Lugano, Ascona etc.) don't miss this hidden gem of a restaurant Ristorante Il Tartufo www.iltartufo.ch Not to be confused with the restaurant of the same name in Zurich, this quaint little spot in Orselina (just above Locarno) is serving up amazing food in an unlikely locale. Chef Mariotta invites every guest into the kitchen. There is no menu, just a list of daily ingredients. We asked the chef to create something special for us and we were not disappointed, organic quail eggs with white and black truffle, veal cooked to perfection in cognac cream sauce with pink peppercorns, housemade gelato and warm chocolate cake with a liquid center! Interesting local wine list and a warm and friendly atmosphere, small though .. be sure to call ahead and make a reservation. report a problem
