We were told upon arrival that Amangani means Peaceful Home and this is exactly what we experienced. Even though the hotel was nearly full if always seemed like we were the only people there. The staff is refreshingly polite, helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making us comfortable. Unlike most hotels there is no front desk. We were greeted at the door by a concierge who introduced us to the general manager, then gave us a tour of the hotel before checking us in in our suite. A very pleasant experience much different from standing at a high desk with and uninterested person tapping away on a computer. Though it is very expensive, rooms start at $850 in high-season, there is nothing else like it in the US. We recommend visiting after the summer crowds in Jackson have departed, our stay was in mid-September.
