Jamaica hotels
Hotels in Jamaica range from small intimate properties with private villas to anything-goes all-inclusive resorts. Montego Bay (usually referred to as MoBay) has many beachfront hotels, like the rowdy Sandals Montego Bay and the more subdued Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall and Rose Hall Resort. The big all-inclusives in Negril like Couples Swept Away and Sandals Negril are right on the sand, but be aware that some of the town's other hotels, like Rockhouse and Tensing Pen, are set on cliffs above the water and are a shuttle ride from the beach. Ocho Rios on the north-central coast has a high concentration of hotels including the sprawling Royal Plantation, and bustles during the day with hundreds of day-trippers from cruise ships. The most fashionable hotels in Jamaica are part of Island Outpost, a hotel group that includes Goldeneye (the estate where Ian Fleming wrote many of his James Bond novels), The Caves in Negril and Strawberry Hill in Irish Town, as well as Geejam on the northeast coast in Port Antonio and Jake's on the south coast near Treasure Beach.
