Jamaica is truly a destination one must experience, and add to a travel repetoire. It is a very unique place, however, I spent a lot of time in Ocho Rios (also known as "Ochi"). Ochi is a wonderful place to truly experience nature at its best, particularly waterfalls and especially the lush countryside- not far from St. Ann. For local cuisine, the Jerk Center in downtown Ochi is absolutely wonderful for sampling Jerk Chicken. And, definitely take advantage of the local tours, if you're a traditional tourist. However, if you are the adventurous traveller, oftentimes the unbeaten path is the best way to see what a country truly has to offer. I don't recommend the unbeaten path to everyone . . . Please re-read the previous sentence again . . . Yet, the road less traveled allowed me to see parts of Jamaica most tourists are unable to experience; the allure beyond the gates of a resort or hotel facility. Overall, Ocho Rios is a small fraction of the rich, diverse and cultural heritage Jamaica has to offer. report a problem
