After you arrive at the bus-stop when you get off the train, you will get a tour guide-guided bus ride to the Station 1/4 of the way up the mountain. Once finished there, the bus will take you back down to nearby lake Ashi for a nice pirate ship cruise around the lake. When finished the bus will take you too a beautiful restaurant in the close city of Hakone. After that you will be driven to a fun cable-car station and take a short trip around Hakone's valley via cable-car. The bus will then pick you up from the other end and will take you back to the train station so you can go home. I took this tour when I was staying in Tokyo and I enjoyed every bit. I found out about this trip by asking the concierge at my hotel about Mt. Fuji trips, and she said this was the most popular. So ask your hotel concierge next time you are in Tokyo and I promise you won't regret this tour. report a problem
Posted on: August 26, 2009 at 10:35AMUsing your JR pass, take the Hydrangea Train back to Tokyo from Hakone - GORGEOUS! Your JR pass is also good for the boat road around Lake Ashi, for the bus rides, for the cable car ride to the sulfur springs (buy an egg there - good for 7 more years of life!) - an amazing day, an amazing bargain. The cafeteria at the lake is wonderful and family friendly.
