My wife and I spent a week at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai as part of our honeymoon a couple years ago. We had an amazing time.
One of the things I remember most about this resort was the giant waterslide that was built into the pool. It twisted and turned through rocks and palm trees. We must have done that about 50 times each!
We spent most of our time sightseeing across Kauai... but we did schedule one day to just "take it easy" by the poolside - and I'm glad I did.
The pool is almost indescribable: it's more of a stream that twists and turns among palm trees and little man-made islands. Talk about zen... this is it.
Our room overlooked the pool and beyond that was the open ocean. Breathtaking. We started our day each morning with coffee on our balcony... soaking in the beautiful view and fresh air.
There are a couple of highly rated restaurants on the premises: Dondero's and Tidepools. We dined at both and I highly recommend checking out Tidepools. It's a surreal dining experience.
There are four or five tennis courts overlooking the ocean. We had no problem getting a court every morning for a couple games before taking off to check out Kauai. We even took a couple lessons with an on-site pro.
Service across the board was excellent.
This review doesn't do justice to this resort. I'll just say it was well worth the $650 or so we paid per night. My wife and I are sure to go back.
