The best place to see the untouched waters of Florida is the Dry Tortugas, an old military fort 90 miles south of Key West. Several companies offer daily trips there which include breakfast and lunch. The boat ride is about 1 & 1/2 hours each way. After touring the Fort where Samuel Mudd was imprisioned you can snorkel off the beach that surrounds the fort. The water is very shallow so perfect for first timers, but it is sooo clear! The species of coral are amazing, none like I have ever seen before and the underwater life leaves you speechless. From baby nurse sharks, sea turtles, to puffers you will see it all! A must for any one visiting Key West. report a problem
