Interestingly, Las Vegas is surrounded by some of the great parks in the Southwest. We had the pleasure if taking a guided tour from Las Vegas to the Valley of Fire which included the lost City Museum. Appropriately named for its red color, the sandstone formations are truly remarkable. Because of the stunning background scenery, many movies and car commercials have been filmed in this park. This beautiful area was once a "spiritual meeting place" for the Anasazi Indians. We viewed many locations with ancient Indian Petroglyphs, an art form process of chipping pictures into the soft sandstone. No one knows for sure what happened to this once flourishing nation and there has never been a Rosetta stone to unlock the key of the Petroglyph art. The Lost City Museum (stands on the site of this lost civilization) is an amazing treasure trove of Ancient Indian art, artifacts and resurrected Pueblo’s. I highly recommend this half day tour with AdventurePhotoTours.com They have received the Governors Tourism Award multiple times and showed us a wonderful and memorable day.
