Ljubljana hotels
Ljubljana hotels have come a long way since the dark days of damp hostels and dingy two-stars. The Slovenian capital is now flush with a booming, euro-based economy, which has done wonders for the hotel scene. Historic properties like the Grand Hotel Union have been brushed up and brightened, while even 20th-century places like the Hotel Ljubljana have gotten 21st-century makeovers. Excellent new properties have been added, too, including Hotel Mons, Ljubljana's first design hotel. Even with all the changes Ljubljana is not the constant construction site that Prague is: This city of under 300,000 has a calm, laid-back vibe with very little to prove, though the best new arrivals do up the ante in terms of service and amenities. Best of all, Ljubljana is still a relatively affordable European destination. Even in high season, rooms at the best Ljubljana hotels are under $250.
