Los Angeles hotels

There was a time when selecting a Los Angeles hotel meant choosing between classic luxury staples such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Bel-Air (closed for refurbishment until 2011), and the Regent Beverly Wilshire—all with over-the-top service, regal lobbies, and storied pasts—or funky little boutiques with intimate lounges sporting wheatgrass centerpieces and bowls of polished green apples. But lately, a whole slew of new openings, including the London West Hollywood and the SLS, aim to bridge the gap between boutique and old-school retreat. One constant? Southern California style means relaxation is key, and there are always plenty of opportunities for lounging, be it at the trendy lobby bars, the scene-y rooftop pools, or the world-class spas.
