Luxor hotels
After a day spent scrambling up and down tombs and temples, you'll want a place with a pool and spacious garden in which to escape the hordes. On the east bank, the colonial era Sofitel Winter Palace Hotel offers these amenities and is within walking distance of Luxor Temple and other sites, while just north and south of town respectively lie modern resort compounds by the river, such as the Jolie Ville. On the west bank there is a small but growing boutique hotel movement in small guest houses near the public ferry landing, such as Al Moudira. A west bank base gives you a jump start on the tour buses coming over to the Valley of the Kings; the public ferries or a private motorboat take five mintues to Luxor town.
