Our last stay in 9/2008 was not very good at all. Our first room was so musty smelling it was hard to breathe. They moved us for the same problem two more times. We finally looked inside the vents and with no exaggeration there was dust two inches thick going back as far as we could see into the duct work. It was that really black soot. It made our eyes water and our noses run. Before we were moved we checked out other suites and they were the same way. Perhaps they need to have all their duct work cleaned. Someone with asthma or breathing difficulties would have real problems here. The lobby furniture is in tatters and the white paint is turning black. Not pretty for a lobby in a hotel of this caliber. Notice for yourself when you visit there.
We found the suites becoming very run down. Very dirty paint, filthy lanai furniture and the white paint on the lanai was very black and dirty also. The AC vents had the same black soot hanging out of them and the curtains were also filthy. We have had some good stays here and expected as platinum members to be treated as such, but management and staff were indifferent. Management didn't believe us until we showed them the pictures that we took. Only then did they begrudgingly help us. We were very nice about these issues, but they behaved as if it was them against us. Just bizzare behavior from the management of this resort.
We usually love the food here, but we have never been so disgusted as with our meal from KO. My husband's fish still had the ribs attached and was gristly. Even the resort management was upset at what they served him. He said it look like a veal shank. That's pretty bad. No apology came from KO's manager, Lawrence. Housekeeping was wonderful as was the rest of the In room dining staff.
We have stayed at the Kea Lani many times, but this was the worst experience we have ever had, especially from the new management. They change management constantly. Hmmm! Being platinum members and guests who have stayed many times, you would think they would want to take good care of us. We don't ever want to stay again, especially with the staff being so surly and with the rooms getting smarmy. So much for the Fairmont Kea Lani being our home away from home.
