Megève restaurants
Megève is one of the great gourmet capitals of the Alps, with a clutch of outstanding mountain restaurants for lunch and even better ones in town for dinner. The Rothschilds—a rich and famous family who helped make the resort fashionable at the beginning of the 20th century—dominates the gastronomic scene (they own Taverne and five other restaurants on the slopes and around town). Sadly, Megève is a much emptier place for the closure of celebrity chef Marc Veyrat's La Ferme du Mon Père. The restaurant is closed while the building is being renovated and converted into a hotel. Veyrat has moved back to Lake Annécy to concentrate on his restaurant there, leaving his protégé Emmanuel Renaut of the Flocons de Sel to hold his culinary torch.
