The Westin Melbourne is an excellent upscale, urban hotel. while it lacks any “old world” charm, I found the contemporary design pleasing and not overdone (unlike so many W Hotels—please don’t revoke my Starwood status for saying so). Overall, I was very satisfied with this Westin, and would highly recommend it to others.
I stayed in one of the Westin Studious, which was
unusually nice. I’m always a fan of the Heavenly beds at Starwood hotels, and the Westin Melbourne did not disappoint. The highlight of the room, however, was the huge bathroom. While I was a little hesitant of floor-to-ceiling windows in the bathroom, I quickly found that the 1-way shades blocked out any outside-in viewing, while giving me stunning view of Collins Street outside. The Jacuzzi tub is nice, the shower stall and the rain-like showerhead was simply awesome (You can even buy these showerheads in the lobby—and we almost did).
I must add—whoever bought off on the design plans of having an entire wall of windows in the bathroom should be commended for their unorthodox vision, as the views from the bathroom were really (and unusually) exceptional.
