Mexico nightlife
Mexico is the land of the never-ending fiesta, and just about any occasion is cause for major celebration. Birthdays begin at midnight with mariachi serenades and firecrackers; nightlong wedding receptions end the next day in a hearty breakfast. As a result, Mexico's nightlife is a spirited and raucous affair, regardless of location. However, Acapulco is the queen of the nightlife scene with glitzy clubs like Palladium flashing fireworks over the bay. The clubs tend to be packed from 11 pm till dawn, and VIP passes, bottle service, and Champagne are de rigueur. In Mexico City, you'll find a hip techno vibe at places like Area, atop the Hotel Habita, and in many small bars in Coyoacán and La Roma. Cancún is headquarters for the Girls Gone Wild scene, with clubs as big as bullrings and appearances by famous DJs and bands. However, Cancún also has more grown-up nightlife options like jazz venues, salsa clubs, and cocktail bars. Wherever you go, don't miss the cantinas, where men slap down dominoes and tequila shots simultaneously. Many serve botanes (like tapas) free with your drinks or have booze prices so low that you'll find yourself stumbling toward a taco stand at dawn.
