You might not see a tortilla the whole time you're in Mexico City. This is a cosmopolitan city, so it's much easier to find an Italian trattoria or an Argentine steak house than a real Mexican place. For that, you'll probably have to leave the more touristy neighborhoods of Polanco and La Condesa. Coyoacán and San Ángel have good local and regional fare, as does the Centro Histórico. What's hot now? The city's best chefs are beguiled by Spanish cuisine, especially tapas. Many of the most upscale restaurants, such as D.O. in Polanco, are serving these small dishes in a big way.
