Milanese hotels used to be famous for being ultra-traditional, when they weren't downright dowdy. But since the turn of the millennium, the city has finally acquired some stylish lodgings that do justice to its reputation as Italy's fashion and design capital. At the top end, the contemporary chic of the Park Hyatt and the Bulgari has proved a hit with visiting business people and fashionistas, challenging comfortable old classics such as the Principe di Savoia.
