Milan nightlife
Nightlife in Milan is not as raucous as you would expect from a city known as the fashion and design capital of Italy. Outside of the men's and women's fashion weeks, and the furniture fair (Salone del Mobile) in April, Milan nightlife can seem fairly sedate. Partly for climatic reasons (it can get bitterly cold in winter), this is a city of cozy interiors rather than piazzas full of alfresco drinkers. It's no coincidence that Milan's most popular meeting place, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, is a covered arcade. But if you know which bars to go to, you'll find a lively aperitivo scene between around 6 and 8 pm, and a good after-hours vibe, especially on weekends. A recent trend toward fashion-label bars and clubs, such as Armani Privé and Just Cavalli Café, has given the Milanese scene a boost—though locals tend to prefer that faithful old corner bar where Giovanni has been mixing his Negronis for the last half-century.
