Concierge.com's insider take:
Roberto Cavalli is a superdarling of the fashion cognoscenti, and this high-glamour café-resto-nightclub is still a runaway hit years after its 2002 opening. It has a stunning location: a glass-shelled boîte at the base of Giò Ponte's Torre Branca in Parco Sempione, featuring a bucolic torch-lit patio garden with sofas and cushions and flowers. It opens at 8:30 p.m. for (expensive) dinner courtesy of chef Leonardo Perazzoli—osso bucco, a signature risotto with (gasp) shrimp and Parmesan—and then morphs into a nightclub, which keeps going until 2 a.m. The decor is suitably flamboyant, with bright gem colors, chairs upholstered in exotic hides, and crystal chandeliers. The café's park location makes it more of a summer option, though it is open year-round. In 2005, Cavalli opened another bar-café in the basement of his show-off Via della Spiga store (30 Via della Spiga; 39-02-7631-6566). From the padded white vinyl main floor, you take a faux-leather-lined elevator that looks like a sci-fi version of La Cenerentola's pumpkin carriage down to the bar. This is all mirrored surfaces and loud colors, with one wall that's entirely black banquette and another that's a 1,500-gallon aquarium faced with a huge Swarovski crystal serpent. Fight your way in for early aperitivi (the bar closes with the store, at 7 p.m.), which come with a full quotient of free nibbles—and this being fashion central, you'll probably have the food all to yourself.
Closed Sundays. Open 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
