Munich shopping
Munich is not home to significant international designers, but its wealth and showiness make it a concentrated luxe shopper's delight, packed with high-end labels. Maximilianstrasse, the city's nightlife boulevard, is also home to its priciest boutiques (Versace, Etro, Loro Piana, Bottega Veneta, and more). Towards the Residenz palace on Theatinerstrasse there's the Funf Höfe, a light-filled series of courtyards with more designer boutiques as well as bookstores and art galleries. Foodies can head to the Viktualienmarkt just south of Marienplatz, home to plenty of game, cheese, and fresh Bavarian produce. Bargains are rare in the center city, however: Head up to Hohenzollernstrasse, west of the Englischer Garten, for discounts.
