I spent two nights at the Carlyle in 2006. The room I was given had an extremely strong smoky odor. When I requested a non-smoking room, I was told there were no other available rooms. In fact, when I tried to book a room in another hotel, I found that because of a number of conventions, there were no other rooms in the city. Ugh, two nights in a smoky room was not fun.
