I gave rave reviews to Le Fenouil in NW Portland recently, and now, after a recent dinner, I have to give Meriwether's even more stars. Chef Earl Hook brings a Sicilian touch to the cuisine of southern France and the Mediterranean. We sat on the sheltered patio, in a gorgeous garden on a summer night and enjoyed perfect service. My soup and salad were excellent -- produce comes from the owners' own 5-acre garden, which visitors can tour monthly -- and the main dish was outstanding: king prawns with rice (blackened with squid ink) in a potato crust, with a pork, chili and almond sauce. It sounds like too much but is a wonderful blend. A great spot. I'll be back. report a problem
