I went to the Louvre on the first Sunday of July when it was free. (Tip within a tip: Louvre is always free on the first Sunday of every month and on Friday evenings for those under 26). Obviously it was crowded. The Pyramid entrance outside line was extremely long, maybe a quarter of a mile which would have taken an hour to get in. We entered from underground--if you take the Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre exit on the Metro it leads to an underground entrance. We waited in line less than ten minutes this way. To show that it wasn't just luck, I went back a couple weeks later on a Friday evening with another friend to find the exact same scenario. This time, we entered in less than 5. report a problem
