Or to be more accurate, in my case, "daughters don't let their mothers..." plug in a 120 volt hair dryer in a 220 volt Paris hotel outlet, unless it's part of your plan to short out half of the hotel's electrical system. When packing, it's a good idea to attach your converter to your 120 volt plug (of the appliance most likely to be used by the voltage neophyte) -- at least then your mother (friend, spouse, whatever) is likely to ask, "What's this for"? You can try to explain the converter's utility before you leave, but I found out the hard way that some people's habits are hard to break. Happy travels! report a problem
