It's no surprise that bad boys of American fashion like Marc Jacobs and Rick Owens (former head of designer furrier Revillon) set up shop in the elegant Palais Royal arcades. A century ago, these elegant environs were best known as a meeting place for ladies of the night and their clients. Owens, the man who claims to have coined the term "glunge" (better known as glamour plus grunge) expertly marries Hollywood bravado and European craftsmanship in his hand-worked collection of sumptuous and tarty clothing. Look for silky dresses with plunging necklines and Owens's new Palais Royal line of furs, which includes fitted jackets of fox and mink.
Open Mondays 12 to 7 pm, Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 am to 7 pm.
