Portland hotels
Portland has long been a low-key city, and its hotels were predictably traditional with unremarkable decor and interchangeable amenities. However, in recent years, a number of contemporary and upscale boutique chains have appeared on the scene, reflecting Portland's heightened hip status. These new hotels are going out of their way to woo visitors with whimsical perks (animal print bathrobes, anyone?), exceptional service, individualized room designs, and more.
Most hotels are clustered in Portland's compact downtown core, meaning that many of the city's attractions and main shopping districts are within easy walking distance. The exception is the Jupiter Hotel, located on the east side of the river, which caters to a youthful crowd looking to tap into the local music scene.
