A local friend was sick of the Portland localvore standard restaurants and picked this rather upscale (for Portland) local spot for my last dinner in town. We decided to forgo our table to sit up at the bar over the kitchen and watch the action.
There's a nice selection of wines that include reasonably priced selections (as well as some major splurges) and the menu is nicely balanced between heavier meats and lighter options.
The nettle ravioli was light and lovely - and a combo I'd never have considered. The veal and tuna was interesting, but not to my taste.
The only concerning moment was when the chef couldn't answer where either the duck or the halibut came from. I prefer, especially for a small and foodie feeling restaurant like Le Pigeon, when the chef knows every detail about the food - especially its origin.
