A place you don’t want to miss from Puerto Rico is Gilligan’s Island. This small island located in Guanica, is my favorite place to visit. With white sand and crystal clear water this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy of an amazing day in the Caribbean. During summer time weekends, I recommend to arrive as early as possible (around 6am or 7am) because even though the first boat to the island departs at 9am it can get really crowded and you may want to get a great spot in front of the water or get one of the gazebos if you are planning on a picnic. You also need to have in mind that the occupancy of the island is limited and once it reaches its full capacity they send you to an adjacent island which is nice, but it’s not the main attraction. At 5pm the last boat return to the main land, so you would like to consider going early to enjoy as much as you can during the day. Another important thing to know is that there are no shops on the island, so you need to bring your own cooler with drinks and food, or you have the option to buy some at the bay before you take the boat. Once you are ready it’s time to enjoy of this wonderful place, perfect for snorkeling, or just to enjoy the maze-like mangrove channels that if you dare to go against the current flow and reach the end you would experience a majestic view of the open sea. report a problemPosted on: September 15, 2009 at 1:56PM
Absolutely gorgeous. I am from Puerto Rico and discovered this piece of paradise recently, even after hearing about it since I was in high school. I love the perfect tropical setting and the only enchanting Caribbean energy that only Puerto Rico truly embodies. Pepe
