When the economy's in crisis (and even when it's not) everyone loves a freebie. Whether you're a resident or a visitor, we want to hear about your favorite ways to spend a little--or better yet, nothing--and get a lot out of Puerto Rico. --The Concierge.com Editors report a problemPosted on: September 12, 2009 at 11:56PM
When visiting San Juan Puerto Rico be sure remember to visit the Tourism Office at the Airport for complimentary welcome drinks and/or the Tourist Office in Old San Juan across the cruise ship terminal as well as "Don Q" also located across from the cruise ship port which all offer refreshing cocktails of your choice at no charge in addition to providing an abundance of infomation,Posted on: September 10, 2009 at 2:23AM
If your ever in Puerto Rico and are near the Isla Verde area, definitely try Metropol near the Ritz Carlton. It is a cuban restaurant with very good prices, great food and full plates.Posted on: September 08, 2009 at 11:47PM
If in San Juan, be sure to stop at the Caribe Hotel. The view is beautiful and lots of history happened here, try a Pina Colada, created here in the 50'sPosted on: September 02, 2009 at 11:28AM
Bacardi distillery could well be the highlight of your trip ...it’s a beautiful 20-minute drive from San Juan or you can take an inexpensive ferry from Old San Juan to Cataño and hop a bus. The back-to-back free tours more than satisfy. You await your group’s turn in a huge gorgeous outdoor lounge affording a picturesque view of Fort El Morro, Old SJ, across the bay. Rum drinks (how about a piña colada?) are on the house, and a small souvenir shop at the side does a brisk businessPosted on: April 14, 2009 at 12:13AM
Wonderfull way to spend couple of hours is to try the underwater helmet dive tour (www.seatreksanjuan.com) , brand new attraction available in San Juan, about 10 min away from the cruise ship docks and all major hotels. Right behind Hotel Normanie. The tour is great, takes about an hour with a half an hour under water walking on the bottom of the sea wearing a helmet, your hair stays dry, you can wear a make up or prescription glasses and see the fishes right next to you. Also spend another hour if you want at the beach after the tour, Blue Flag beach. Great water activity that takes only a little bit over an hour, no need to spend all day traveling to the other side of the island if you have only a limited amount of time in San Juan!Posted on: January 15, 2009 at 2:16PM
One of the most important areas to see is the Rain Forest. It has a terrifically calming effect, has dazzling scenery and magnificent waterfalls! Spend the day! You won't be disappointed!Posted on: November 27, 2008 at 5:07PM
We love to go to Puerto Rico and our favorite place to stay is the Fajardo Inn on the Northeast coast. There is an oceanview to the north and a view of El Yunque to the south. There are two beautiful pools, miniature golf, an aviary, and two restaurants. You can get a large delicious lunch for $5 at the Blue Iguana Mexican Bar and Grill. The Inn runs specials in off season when you can get a lovely room for $60 a night. Within walking distance is the ferry to Culebra and Vieques. For $2 you can go to spend the day or get a room on one of the islands and spend a couple days. The restaurant across the street from the ferry dock offers a good inexpensive breakfast while you wait for the ferry. Renting a scooter is a great way to explore Culebra or Vieques, but beware. Puerto rico has the strictest motorcycle laws in the U. S. Riders must wear a helmet, long pants, boots and gloves in order to rent a scooter.
