This is one of those places where everybody seems to have got it right. From the early-20th-century building in the Old Port area to the "just-right" number of rooms (60) and the lobby's large fireplace and oversized sofas. Then there's the little stuff like gratis Wi-Fi, free self-serve cappuccino and espresso, and the price-included continental breakfast—fresh-squeezed juice, rabbit pâté, croissants, and coffee. Lastly, the hotel's service is unfailingly gracious. You'll get smiles from all the staff, and turndown service includes chocolates and cards with the weather forecast for the next day.

Located in the Old Port, "this hotel is the ideal starting point for a historic and culinary exploration of the city." Originally the Dominion Fish and Fruit Company building, and the city's first skyscraper, its Bauhaus interior combines neutral tones with dark wood. Mocha browns and greens contrast with stark-white duvet covers in the rooms. Only breakfast is served, but "lively cafés and restaurants are nearby." Canine guests receive a bed, cookies, and a bowl.
