Québec City restaurants
Québec City is a city of food—a very fortunate reflection of its French roots, with an emphasis on both formal cooking techniques and the zeal for fresh products. Nearby farms in Île d'Orléans, which produce everything from fresh jams to cheese, can be thanked for the latter (the region has the best cheeses in all of North America, in fact). This also makes the outdoor markets worth a stop—though you can't legally bring the cheeses back over the border with you. An unexpected bonus is the super-friendly service visitors will receive at all levels of restaurants—something frequent visitors to France may be unaccustomed to.
