Public Restrooms In Rome

When I first traveled to Rome last year, I was surprised to discover several things about most of the public restrooms that I encountered. Be forewarned fellow travelers planning a trip to Italy! Be sure to bring enough euro coins and extra tissue paper or kleenex to carry in your purse/pocket! Most public restrooms will cost you up to a euro to use, and I found myself standing in line to buy my 'stall ticket', only to find myself frantically searching for a spare kleenex in my handbag once I finally got into the stall. Another shocker I encountered with many public toilets was the absence of the toilet seat and just the toilet rim remaining. In stark contrast was my hotel room's bathroom, which included a bidet next to the regular toilet (complete with toilet seat!) and derriere drying cloths! A good hotel or restaurant will always provide better restroom facilities! report a problem
