The crowd is a combination of creatives, suits, and pre-partiers. San Diego celeb chef Brian Malarkey—one third of a dream team that includes boldface designer Thomas Schoos and local nightlife czar James Brennan—mans the exhibition kitchen and serves up SoCal dishes such as short ribs, goat cheese dumplings, and fig-flanked Baja scallops.
