Hiking in breathtakingly beautiful oceanshore trails, and walking along the jetty to Sausalito, and running across the Golden Gate Bridge all come at a steep price. And that price is staying at Cavallo Point. You would be hard pressed to find a place where the difference in experience between the natural surroundings and the hotel are so profound.
It is sad that such a beautiful environment was given in stewardship, at least the hotel part, to a gang that couldn't hotel right. What am I talking about? Running out of coffee and muffins at breakfast for three days in a row; taking four and a half hours to serve a New Years Eve dinner; extremely poor lighting at night in an environment that is hilly, fogbound and usually slippery; half a dozen tired treadmills called the gym; virtually non existent room amenities such as enough soap and cream.
Go for the views but stay somewhere else.
