Tasca El Pescador, San Juan

Had a lazy Sunday meal here back in March while on vacation. The square is walking distance from the resorts on Ashford in Condado (we stayed at La Concha), but I'd probably take a cab after dark. Patio is first-come, first-served, while the wait list is for inside only (we had some confusion about this, but our waitress was nice and landed us a patio spot once she figured out that I spoke Spanish). Food is phenomenal. Best fried calamari I have ever had (the local women next to us also recommended the restaurant's version of fish sticks!). Whole fried red snapper (called Chillo) is an island specialty, and this was by far the best rendition I had while in Puerto Rico. Anything from the specials menu is a sure bet, as it's all freshly caught. Swordfish in caper sauce was one of the daily specials and was quite good. Save room for dessert and order the passion fruit mousse!
