Singapore is where the major cultures of Southeast Asia converge; South Asian Hindus, Malay Muslims, and Chinese Buddhists (as well as Christian expats) all jostle up against each other in this compact, cosmopolitan city. Some visitors complain that Singapore lacks its own distinctive culture (which is true enough); but more and more, the city's tidy efficiency and cultural offerings—including some terrific museums and beautiful outdoor spaces—are attracting a fan base.
